Biography
Giuseppe Consolo
Born in Naples, Italy, on September 6th 1948, he grew up in Rome and is the son of an Italian Navy Official.
He attended Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli Middle school, S. Giuseppe Calasanzio Gymnasium and graduated from High School at Collegio Navale F. Morosini in 1966.
Graduated in Law cum laude at the Catania University, Sicily, in 1970.
Became a lawyer in 1974, and is Supreme Court Lawyer since 1988.
Professor Consolo founded of one of the most renowned Italian Law Firms.
Won the “Concorso Accademico Nazionale” and is currently Associated Professor of Constitutional Law II at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome.
Has been Member of the Senate of the Italian Republic since 2001 and is Member of the “II Commissione Permanente” (Italian Justice)
Member of the Permanent Committee to prosecution proceedings and Member of the Parliamentary Committee on the Telekom- Serbia Affair.
Leader of the Commission for Election and Parliamentary Immunity to Alleanza Nazionale political party
MP since 2006. Member of the Electoral Commission at the Italian Parliament serving the Permanent Committee for incompatibility and Justice Commission.
On January 18th 2006, the Official Gazzette of the Italian Republic published the law 09/01/2006 n.7 also known as Consolo’s Law, related to the “Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation”.
Member of the Italian Order of Journalists since 1975, he has cooperated with important Italian newspapers such as Corriere della Sera, Il Giornale, Il Messaggero, Il Secolo d’Italia, Il Tempo.
Since 2nd of June 1992 he is Grand Officer of the Italian Republic.

Creator and conductor of the tv show “Dentro la Giustizia” (Inside Justice) broadcasted by Rai Uno during 1989-1991, whose topic were the problems of the Italian justice.
Vice President and President of National Communication’s Bank until 1995, when it was merged into San Paolo Bank of Turin.
Board Member of several Italian companies (Alfa Romeo, BNL-Credito Industriale, BNL-Sacats, Efibanca, Mediocredito Centrale, Alitalia).
Founder of the movement “I magnifici Cento”. On January 31st, 2000 he arranged an important political meeting in his office with Mr. Berlusconi, Mr. Fini and Mr. Casini.
Between 1960-1963 with the A.S. Roma Team, he has been in the list of the ten best back style Italian swimmer. During the 70’s and the 80’s he has played Tennis in the third category for the C.C. Aniene of Rome.
